If you completed this course number (EHS850D) in 2016, you have already satisfied the requirement and
you don’t need to retake it. If you have not yet taken this course in 2016, you will need to complete
the course before the July 15, 2016 deadline.

Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) & Biomedical Waste (BMW)

This training, which includes Bloodborne Pathogens and Biomedical Waste training, is required of all clinical faculty, students, staff, residents, fellows, interns, and volunteers upon entrance or hire by the College of Dentistry, and annually thereafter.

Training Instructions

There are two ways to access the training. You can use method one or two, detailed below.

Method One

  • Go to myUFL and log in using your Gatorlink username and password.
  • Choose “My Self Service.”
  • Choose “Training and Development.”
  • Choose “MyTraining.”
  • A new window will open that shows your training dashboard.
  • In the upper left corner, you will see an “Activity Search” field.
  • In this field, enter EHS850D, then click on the magnifying glass.
  • You will see BBP/BMW Training Dentistry. Click on the blue “Start” button on the right side of the page.
  • This will take you into the training. Please complete the training and the associated assessment.

Method Two

  • Go to myTraining and choose one of the two categories that best describes you. For most people at the college, it will be the “University of Florida” selection on the left.
  • Log in using your Gatorlink username and password. (If you do not have a Gatorlink account, on the myTraining page, choose the “Other” category. On the next page choose “UF Training.”)
  • A new window will open that shows your training dashboard.
  • In the upper left corner, you will see an “Activity Search” field.
  • In this field, enter EHS850D, then click on the magnifying glass.
  • You will see BBP/BMW Training Dentistry. Click on the blue “Start” button on the right side of the page.
  • This will take you into the training. Please complete the training and the associated assessment.

Important Points

  • After you complete the training, regardless of which method you use, you need to click the “Update Training Record” button after you complete the assessment. If this button is not clicked, your score may not be properly recorded.
  • This training system, SumTotal, works best with Internet Explorer on a PC or Safari on a Mac. Please use one of these two internet browsers to avoid issues that may cause you to have to retake the training.
  • It is very important that you complete the training that is specific to dentistry so make sure you have the correct course number, EHS850D. Course number EHS850 does not satisfy the College of Dentistry’s requirement.
